    Quinces now in season

    Last week I had my parents drop in bearing fruit... 12 beautiful quinces picked from a tree in there back yard in Ballarat.Confession: I have never cooked quince before, I know... shame!Love them, can't get enough of that fantastic Spanish quince paste with cheese and crackers. Another favorite is quince paste with a good quality sherry and raisins. Let it simmer until the quince paste liquifies and then pour over roasted pork belly, delish!Anyway, back to the quinces from my parents back...

    Favourite cafés for breakfast in the suburbs

    It's quite interesting how the opening of one small café can change a whole street. I am very lucky to have The Bird just down the road from me in Union Road, Ascot Vale. The staff are wonderful, the food fantastic and great coffee.
